Since the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order in 2005, it has become a mandatory that all Fire Alarm systems are serviced a minimum of twice a year, with one hundred percent of the system being checked over the 12 month period.All Fire Alarms must be supported with a minimum 24 hour stand by life in the case of a power failure, and have enough battery capacity to run the sounders for 30 minutes after this time. For systems which are monitored off site further changes have been implemented. The latest revision to the fire alarm standards is BS5839:2013, this has enforced further requirements for off site monitored systems. All Communicators and associated power supplies for off site monitoring must be EN54 compliant, this omits the use of Intruder Alarm assisted monitoring on new systems. If Intruder Alarm assisted monitoring is used a variation form must be completed and signed by the customer, agreeing to the none conformity.Most monitored Fire Alarm Systems can be set up with brigade response, but keep in mind that not all authorities will guarantee to attend an activation unless a fire has been confirmed
