Peptide YY (PYY) is a 36-amino acid peptide hormone released by L cells of the distal gastrointestinal tract in response to feeding. Along with neuropeptide Y and pancreatic polypeptide, it comprises the NPY family of biologically active peptides that regulate various physiological processes.
