When the main contractors, Winvic, required a large retaining wall for their development of a multi-million pound, 310,000ft² Prologis distribution centre in Dunstable, they turned to Elite Precast Concrete for the solution.

The project involved the installation of over a thousand 2,400kg Legato® interlocking concrete blocks, creating a 220-metre-long by 5-metre-high retaining wall at the new facility. Elite’s block system was selected because it provided a quicker, more space-efficient, and overall better value solution compared to the originally specified gabion baskets.

Sub-contractors PNR Construction took delivery of the Legato® blocks, prepared the groundwork, and built the wall over a 10-day period.
