‘One-size-fits-all’ lateral connection a must-have for contractors

01-03-2017

The new multi-purpose Unisaddle FA150U has now been launched by Flexseal to offer a ‘one-size-fits-all’ lateral connection, for thick wall pipe. “Some of the feedback we had was that some contractors don’t always know which saddle to use,” explained Mark Chatterton, manager of Flexseal’s R&D team, who developed the product. “By developing this product, we’re taking the guess work out for the installer by supplying them with a truly universal lateral connection.” The Flexseal Unisaddle will fit all sizes of clay or concrete main sewer or surface water pipes from DN300, where concrete rebar is not needed or is protected, including thin-walled pipes down to just 27.5mm thick. It will accept branch connections from any DN150 pipe, regardless of pipe material, with the simple addition of a Flexseal Multibush. “Our Marketing Team are making sure that the benefits of the Unisaddle’s flexibility are clear, with labels that direct users to an installation video, a datasheet explaining the full technical details of the product and they’re also working on adding the product to the recently launched Flexseal product finder app.” added Chatterton. The Unisaddle’s adaptability comes courtesy of a set of rubber shims, supplied on the product. The contractor simply needs to remove the correct number to achieve a secure fit onto the main pipe. Equally, the Multibush assures a perfect fit on the lateral pipe, offering 4 different permutations. “This innovation offers a perfect opportunity to overturn specification against traditional factory-cast junctions,” explained Scott McMurray, UK & Ireland Sales Director for Flexseal. “The Unisaddle can save significant cost in terms of materials and labour and comes with an abundance of health & safety and sustainability benefits.” The Unisaddle is an addition to Flexseal’s well-established range of lateral connections. All offer a lower cost alternative to traditional factory-cast products, with the Unisaddle offering the lowest cost option to date. All of them are more simple and easier to fit too, meaning they can be installed in a fraction of the time which offers even greater cost savings. “Our starting point when designing new products is always to think through what is important on site, as well as the limitations of current available products,” commented Mark. “By asking these questions and developing a solution we’ve proved that the Unisaddle can add real value.”
