British manufacturing – the benefits The UK is currently the ninth largest manufacturing country in the world and manufacturing accounts for nearly a quarter of the economy and more than 7.4 million jobs, according to research by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA). There are numerous advantages of using British manufacturers including: Minimal environmental impact Faster delivery times Reduced transportation costs Improved communication Improved supply chain management Made in Britain accreditation The Made in Britain logo is a collective mark that unites the British manufacturing sector and helps consumers, buyers and specifiers clearly identify products that are made in Britain. The Made in Britain mark represents quality and is accredited to businesses that sell goods that have been manufactured or have undergone a final substantial change in Britain before sale. The Made in Britain member’s online directory is used to source British-made goods for buyers, specifiers and consumers making the manufacturing standards clear to buyers under one collective mark. "We are seeing manufacturing making a return to British soil. We have been able to demonstrate that, with volume, we can get close to prices offered overseas, while providing higher quality and shorter turnaround times across the board".
