Ten of the best views from benches around the World
07-09-2016
Research published by Sheffield University’s Department of Landscape and the London think-tank 'The Young Foundation', found that the provision of public benches allows for people to spend longer outside, which is beneficial for both mingling with others in the community, combatting loneliness and isolation as well as benefiting mental health. We've taken a look at ten of the best bench locations across the World, where you can sit and watch the World go by.
Bormio, Italy
Located at 8,271 ft above sea-level, near the summit of Monte dell Scale near the municipality of Valdidentro, Lombardy, in the Italian alps. The view overlooks Lake Cancano, a glacial lake which was created in the 1950s as part of a hydroelectric scheme.
British Columbia, Canada

Utah, United States
At 8,100ft this really is a bench with a view. Taken at Inspiration Point in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, the view appears to go on forever. Light appears to catch the hoodoos, spires and continually-eroding canyon walls, whilst Bristlecone pine dot the landscape as far as the eye can see.
Cheshire, United Kingdom
What better view than the lush English countryside? Taken at Tegg's Nose Country Park, Macclesfield, on the western edge of the Peak District National Park.
New Jersey, United States
In the district of Downtown Jersey City, these benches give views from Exchange Place overlooking downtown Manhattan. In this photo, you can see the construction of the new World Trade Center.
Lake District, United Kingdom
Although one of the lowest fells in the Lake District, Latrigg is a popular climb due to its convenient location overlooking the town of Keswick and the beautiful views down the valley of Borrowdale from the summit.
Ontario, Canada
A view of the beautiful Toronto Skyline and CN Tower, taken from the banks of a snowy Lake Ontario - one of the five great lakes of Canada.
Banff, Canada
Canada's oldest National Park, Banff National Park, is home to a number of ice fields, glaciers, dense forests of conifers, and beautiful alpine landscapes. This picture is taken on a trail along the Bow River, in the main commercial town of Banff.
Auckland, New Zealand
Located on Waiheke Island to the East of Auckland, this beautiful bench over looks Tirakau Bay, one of the few West facing beaches on the Island. The Kennedy Point Reserve is Possum free, allowing the Pohutukawa trees to flourish.
The home of Furnitubes, this is one of the finest views you can get overlooking London. Situated next to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park, these benches give an unrivalled view with the Queen's House in the foreground, then across the Thames with views over Docklands and Canary Wharf.
Furnitubes design and supply seating and benches for all environments - whether it's for parks and open spaces, city centres, transport hubs or in residential settings, Furnitubes offer a solution to suit all locations.
