2011 BCO National Awards Winner 2011 RIBA Awards Winner 2011 BCO Regional Awards Winner Scotland Region, Refurbished / Recycled Workplace 2011 Scottish Design Awards Winner Sustainable Design Commendation from the Edinburgh Architectural Association An exercise in “holistic sustainability“ – the renovation and extension of Scotstoun House combined several challenges – modification of a listed 1960’s building, reconfiguration to meet flexible working; maximum sustainability within a 1960‘s framework and a discerning client in the form of Arup Scotland. haa design‘s involvement started with an analysis of the building’s ability to be re-invented in the face of changing business needs. The extended and modified building has achieved an unprecedented BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating within a beautiful, flexible and responsive working environment and re-interpretation of the Arup philosophy. The project was completed on programme and on cost and re-established its place within the Arup oeuvre of quality architecture.
