F-Gas Regulations 28 April 2015

13-05-2015

HVAC & Refrigeration Engineering offers refrigerant leak checking and compliance surveys on a wide range of refrigerated equipment on offshore assets globally to comply with F-Gas regulations. All of our Refrigeration Engineers are fully trained and certified to City & Guilds 2079 or CITB (Safe Handling of Refrigerants J11 and J12), to comply with EC 842/2006 CATEGORIES I AND II, as well as the recently revised EU F-Gas regulation (517/2014). The revised EU F-Gas regulation (517/2014) came into force on the 1st of January 2015 as part of the on-going process to reduce the amount of Ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and chemicals which have a high Global Warming Potential (GWP). Among others, the biggest change to the regulations is the certification requirements not only for the service provider, but also the end user. The phrase “sold to and purchased by” puts legal responsibility on both the buyer and the seller. In the 2006 Regulation the legal responsibility was only with the buyer, hence there were no previous customer screening requirements. For HRE to sell F-Gases to contractors and to end users, we must now screen who we can provide the F-Gases to and have set up systems to ensure that we comply with new rules about checking customer certification and record keeping. Section 11.4 of the EU F-Gas regulation (517/2014) requires that: “For the purposes of carrying out the installation, servicing, maintenance or repair of equipment that contain F-Gases, bulk supplies of F-Gases can only be sold to and purchased by companies that hold the relevant Company F-Gas certificates or attestations.” Please contact our spares division on +44 (0) 1224 707080 or email info@hvac-refrigeration.co.uk for more information on our available gases.
