Piccadilly Underpass

05-12-2016

“Just a quick note to say congratulations on a job well done. I have been impressed with the quality of the survey, design and installation of the works, not having to snag works as they progress is very rare, well done.” These are the words of the Senior Project Manager of a £1.1million contract to clad the walls of the Piccadilly Underpass at Hyde Park corner. The cladding was to enhance the tunnel and create a better environment in readiness for a major media screen installation. Transport for London (Tfl) signed a new deal for £17.6m to bring digital advertising screens across road underpasses in the capital. Tfl said the network of roadside screens would generate at least £13m to reinvest in modernising the transport network in coming years. To give you an understanding of the scale of the project, it required 18,000 tech screws, 1,600 chemical anchors and over 1,000 stainless steel panels and covered an area of over 2,000 square metres. John Anthony Architectural completed survey, technical drawings, prototyping, managed, manufactured and installed all of the cladding. The client is thrilled with the end result.
