Founded in 1982 when Ernest Milligan set up his flagship Kellaway branch (named after its' Kellaway Avenue location), the first day's takings of a modest £32.92 were a far cry from the numbers the company deals with today.
The original MINI van used for delivery seems a distant memory compared to the robust and reliable fleet of blue 16 to 26 tonne trucks the company presently operates, but what has remained the same from day one, is the energy and efficiency that Kellaway put into ensuring our customers a first class service.
Ernest retired in 1996 with his son, Julian taking over the reins. Since then the company has grown each year and now employs over 130 people.
We are the largest independent builders merchant in our home city of Bristol, expanding in more recent years, we now have branches serving Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire, North and South Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
