LOCATION: Thomond Park is the home ground of Munster Rugby, one of the most successful and best supported rugby clubs in the world. The famous venue, renowned internationally for its unique history and atmosphere, has been redeveloped and now boasts an increased capacity of 25,600 plus an extensive range of conference & banqueting facilities that have further enhanced its glowing reputation. PROJECT SIZE : 500 tonnes PROJECT DURATION : 12 months FEATURES: Raker Steel to the rear of each stand was erected which provided support for the concrete stand tiers. Temporary Steel Towers were erected to allow the main toblerone trusses to be installed. Once these were in position the ods crew were able to proceed with the installation of each of the roof trusses. This presented particular challenges as each truss was 43M long at a height of 30M. CONSTRUCTION: The scope of O’Dwyer Steel works at Thomond Redevelopement was to fabricate, paint and erect the structural steel elements to temporary steel towers. Main roof steelwork to include pillars, trusses, secondary steel etc. Raker steel to the rear of each stand supporting concrete seating tiers.
