Machine Control Solution Installed in a Day

Sunbelt Rentals Survey got a text from an engineer for a machine control solution at 8.30am and by 11.30am the next day, their Trimble Cab Kit had been installed and was ready to go. The job was for C3 construction, on a Flannerys CAT 5k Dozer. All CAT machines come from the factory pre-wired with Trimble machine control, meaning the customer only has to hire a Trimble Cab Kit from Survey to get up and running with machine control. Calvin Taylor, our Machine Control Installation Engineer, had the base set up, the machine measured installed and calibrated, and position checked within 26 hours of the initial text, going above and beyond to get the job done quickly. The engineer on site also hired a base station for this machine to improve accuracy, instead of using a SIM card, which improves accuracy by 10-15mm. The dozer and machine control solution was used to start work on a Drainage Pond for a Miller Homes housing project. The swale pond needed to be exactly in the right position, or the whole site will be shifted. This makes machine control vital for the project. The engineer could just load his model into the screen and leave the driver to their work without having to constantly check-in.
