The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals Regulations) act then adopted these changes in 1996 which required employers to display safety signs to highlight risks that cannot be controlled or avoided. The Safety Signs and Signals Regulations has had a huge impact in keeping workers and members of the public safe. Since its introduction there has been a 50% reduction in the number of fatal injuries.
