Technical Product Engineer Position

Technical Product Engineer An exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with preferably two to three years’ experience of working in a plastics / polymers manufacturing environment now looking to assume greater responsibility in a dynamic and fast-growing industry. Reporting to the Technical Director, we are seeking a motivated individual to provide a high level of technical support, work with our international manufacturing partners as well as Zigma’s sales, marketing and administrative teams. Key Responsibilities and duties: 1. Provide support to the Technical Director. This will entail: Working with our existing manufacturers (currently primarily compression moulding and injection moulding of thermoplastics but also SMC). Frequent overseas travel will be required Identification and development of new suppliers / capacity to support projected growth Overseeing product quality. The ability to draft Delivery Specification / Quality documentation is required Data analysis Product testing, utilising independent laboratories Provision of technical information. An understanding of FEA would be beneficial 2. Identification and appraisal of current technologies with current and / or new suppliers that can be deployed. 3. Identification and delivery of cost reduction through efficiencies / technologies in our current supply chain. 4. Input to product design as part of Zigma’s ongoing objective for product innovation. This will entail design modifications of existing products as well as the development of new products through to successful market launch. 5. The ability to review CAD drawings and input to the design of the tools made to manufacture our products is required. 6. Oversee the process to obtain ISO9001 accreditation and to take on the role of Zigma’s Quality Manager. From an engineering and / or polymers background with a related Scientific or Engineering Qualification / Degree you will have excellent analytical skills, be highly numerate and ideally have previous experience of: 1. General plastics / rubber manufacturing – mostly compression moulding but also injection and extrusion. 2. Particular experience of polyolefins / products in a manufacturing environment. An excellent communicator you will have strong customer facing and team working skills but also be able to work on your own initiative. Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm with travel and additional hours as the role demands Location: Zigma Ground Solutions HQ – Stansted, Essex Zigma Ground Solutions started in 2007 and has grown from ground zero to an internationally recognised manufacturer of temporary access mats in recycled plastic. Expected revenues 2013 / 2014 will maintain a 30% plus growth average; Zigma’s products are supplied around the world – in particular Europe, North America, Australasia.
