"Blooming Marvellous!"

04-06-2014

Pupils from Scawby Primary School, near Brigg met up with Andy and Mandy Torn at the launch of “Make £5 Blossom” recently. This initiative, supported by North Lincolnshire Council and Rotherham Ready encourages young people to develop the skills involved in running a business – by letting them have a go themselves! Local businesses involved were asked to make an initial investment of £150 to help the young people develop their business plans and launch a product or idea. The pupils will decide who to sell to, what to sell and where to sell it. At the end of the scheme the pupils will – hopefully, make a profit and hand back their initial investment in full. A Torn Construction were delighted to be teamed up with Scawby Primary School, and at the launch event met up with pupils Bradley and Katy, and teacher Mr Adam Foster, where they handed over the £150! “This is such a great idea, enabling young people to gain hands on experience and understanding of what is involved in setting up a business. We are very much looking forward to visiting the school and seeing their ideas develop over the next few months and supporting them in any way we can,” commented Mandy Torn.
