Remote Visual Inspection in confined spaces

14-02-2014

Since launching the AC-ROV product AC-CESS have been setting the standard in remotely operated vehicle design for Remote Visual Inspection in confined spaces and hazardous environments. Time has shown the AC-ROV underwater vehicle to be beyond comparison when it comes to size, portability, mobility and durability.Almost all who see the AC-ROV for the first time are surprised by its small size and impressed with its robust build quality. Control is simple and intuitive and is what sets it apart as the underwater RVI tool for confined spaces. The AC-ROV moves in direct response and in the same manner as the pilot moves the 3D grip. After only a few minutes practise even inexperienced pilots will be up and flying around. The vectored thrusters give the AC-ROV exceptional mobility, ideal for manoeuvring in tight spaces. Add to this the unique centreless thrusters which are foul proof and you have a go anywhere underwater inspection tool. Further “Flight Assist” functions on the hand controller help hold station in a current, maintain depth and even suck on to surfaces for parking up, stabilising the view of a target on a single visit or for repeat comparative inspections. This latter capability is unique and inherent to the design of the AC-ROV. The suction force can be varied to hold the AC-ROV against any side, overhead, underneath, smooth or rough surfaces. The “Flight Freeze” function allows the AC-ROV to maintain vectored thrust without the operator touching the controls, useful for longer periods of operation or working against currents when flying or holding station. For more refined control and power when needed there are three power settings to choose from. For jobs that are not underwater, AC-CESS have developed one of the smallest crawlers on the market. With a 100mm “drive through” and a 73mm “drive under” the AC-CELL 100 can inspect topside confined spaces and when needed also go underwater to a depth of 100m. The AC-CELL can be used with the same surface control unit as the AC-ROV to expand the operators confined RVI ability. After completing the inspection job and it being time to go home, this is when the AC-CESS inspection equipment really shows how usefulit is in its portability. In the same time that it can be set up of less than 5 minutes the complete system can be packed back into its singlecase. The hand carry case is small and light enough to be transported easily and can even be taken on board a plane as carry on luggage.
