The people most at risk from exposure to asbestos fibres are contract personnel in the building associated trades: Plumbers; electricians; shop-fitters; insulators and demolition workers to name but a few – But anyone is potentially at risk if Asbestos is not managed correctly. If you are responsible for any Non-Domestic property, it is your legal duty to have put into practice reasonable steps to: Ascertain if there are any Asbestos Containing Materials (A.C.M.s) on the premises. Determine the type and condition of any such Asbestos materials. Presume materials contain Asbestos unless there is strong evidence to suggest otherwise. Assess the risk of disturbance/exposure of any Asbestos Containing Materials. Prepare and implement a written plan on how the risks are to be managed. Monitor, review, and update the Asbestos management plan periodically.
