Princes Trust project at Brighton Youth Centre receives boost from local Builders Merchants

18-12-2014

A group of young people on City College Brighton and Hove’s Prince’s Trust Team programme recently had generous support from Covers Timber and Builders Merchants while they were working on a renovation project at Brighton Youth Centre. Having been approached by the Prince’s Trust team with a request for help, Covers’ Brighton depot on Home Farm Road kindly donated ten sheets of 18mm 8x4 ply board and varnish to help repair flood damage at the Youth Centre. The Prince’s Trust Team programme is a 12-week personal development course which helps unemployed young people gain the skills and confidence to move into work or training. Paul Allwright, Manager of the Brighton depot, said: “The Prince’s Trust Programme is a great way for kids to get some worldly experience and help those in need. The Brighton team decided to help with much-needed renovations for the Brighton Youth Centre, a fabulous resource for young local children. Having suffered quite bad flood damage, their facility also needed office and recreation space renovations. We hope the ply board and materials will go a long way to helping with the upgrades. Steve Clout of the Prince’s Trust Team programme, said: “We’re really proud of the Brighton team this year, as we are of all our teams, every year. They have done so well in accumulating items needed to renovate the Brighton Youth Centre and are learning to appreciate the value of hard work and a sense of achievement. Thank you to Covers, as well all the other local businesses, for their support.”
