Portfield SEN School, Haverfordwest
Value: £5.7m Completion Date: September 2009 Contract Period: 70 weeks Client: Pembrokeshire County Council Construction of a new 2050m2 single storey school for ages 11-19 with a full range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) facilities. Special features include a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, specialist therapy support areas and embedded signal cables in the floors to allow specialist powered wheelchairs to move through the building. The project also included a multi sports sand-dressed synthetic pitch. External works included the modification of existing roads and the inclusion of new car parking and landscaped garden areas contained within new external fencing and gates. The school remained fully operational throughout our works. This was the first Pembrokeshire County Council Building to achieve a Category A Energy Performance Certificate.
