In this guide we are going to try wipe out the myths involved with planning permission and replace with facts.
The building of new building, large external changes or you wish to change the purpose in which you use land will most probably need planning permission.
Internal alterations such as decorating, new kitchen & bathroom and repair and maintenance you will most likely not need planning permission providing that the work does not effect the buildings external appearance or purpose.
DO YOU NEED PLANNING FOR….
- Home Extension: YES! but you may have certain permitted development rights. click here for more information.
- Demolish A Building: You will not normally require planning permission to demolish a building, however you will to erect a new build in its place.
- Install New Windows: Usually you will not need planning permission for new windows as this comes under permitted development, there are certain cases when this is not applicable, if your building is listed or in a conservation area you may require planning permission, you window fitter can tell you more about your property.
- New Kitchen or Bathroom: No, you will not need planning permission for this.
- Decorate My Home: No , you will not need planning permission for this.
- Demolish Existing home and Build a new one: unless building is listed you will not need planning permission to demolish it, you will however need planning permission to build the new home.
