CCTV Push Rod and Crawler Inspections

Internal inspection of drains, sewers and culverts is best achieved through the passage of a small camera through the conduit. The camera can then both inspect the condition as well as store the images onto video for later inspection. These surveys are completed by two techniques: Push Rod systems for small diameter, shallow and short surveys Crawler inspections for deeper, bigger and longer surveys. The Push Rod survey involves a camera head being physically pushed from one manhole or access chamber through the drain. This type of survey is best suited to small diameter pipes of up to 150mm at depths of up to 2.0m with survey lengths up to 50m. A Crawler Camera survey involves a small electrical buggy passing through the conduit. The small vehicle is controlled from the ground surface. Alternative wheel sizes on the remote control vehicle assist in capturing the best internal condition images. Again these videos can be stored digitally and studied later to assess the significance of defects and to identify the best repairs, rehabilitation or replacement options.
