Sewerage Survey in London SE1

A recent commission required an investigation into the location, arrangement and condition of all local, private and public drainage systems in a zone of London SE1 for a new development. This information was required to provide an input to the design process for a new drainage system on the development site. Free Flow was appointed to investigate all the underground drainage systems and to prepare detailed plans as well as a condition survey of the various systems. Detailed method statements and risk assessments were prepared and submitted to Thames Water. In addition, appropriate traffic management regulations were required to manage access from numerous manhole covers in busy streets. The work included confined spaced entry into deep sewers for inspection purposes as well as the use of a crawler camera to thoroughly investigate the internal condition of an antique clay pipe system and the accurate location of junctions and branches to allow future development of drainage connections at appropriate locations.
