Artile mural is dish of the day at Bangkok-style cafe

03-01-2014

With a design inspired by a Japanese plate, this striking red and gold feature wall at the Naamyaa Café in Islington was created by Johnson Tiles’ bespoke Artile service. The illustrated mural was a key feature of the café, so we created the custom tiles using an original piece of Japanese tableware. We were able to colour-match the jewel red tones and reproduce its intricate design, but when it came to replicating the plate’s real gold embellishment, this was substituted on the tiles with gold-coloured mica print to improve the mural’s scratch-resistant properties and maintain cost control for the project.
