EXPOSED AND WINDY IN REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

20-12-2021

While living in England Linda saw a Keder Greenhouse at the Malvern Show and was very impressed by its excellent features. So when she moved to a windy area in the Republic of Ireland Linda decided to upgrade her glass houses and purchased a 4m wide x 8m long Keder Greenhouse from the Grower range which features a single entry door at one end and side ventilation. Linda grows a wide variety of vegetables (Tomatoes, Courgettes, Dwarf & Runner Beans, Sweetcorn, Cucumbers, Gherkins, Sweet Peppers, Aubergines, Salads, Spring Onions, Carrots, Italian Kale, Turnips, Florence Fennel and Mange Tout) as well as over wintering many half hardy plants ready for replanting or propagation the following year. Her Keder Greenhouse is also home to her Wollemi Pine, which is classified as critically endangered (CR) on the IUCN’s Red List and is legally protected in Australia. Linda spends a large amount of time throughout the year, mostly in spring, seed sowing ready for the following season. “The difference since having a Keder Greenhouse is that nearly everything I grow is from seed, which I much prefer’’. Linda explained. With a glass house, on warm spring days, even with the doors and vents open, the temperature can rise to a point where the seedlings could get cooked.” “What I have found, with a Keder Greenhouse, is it is so easy to manage ventilation levels, which are crucial in greenhouse management. The ability to open the door creates excellent air movement and, when it’s really warm, dropping the sides down further increases air flow within the greenhouse. This ability to have greater control flow of air, means there is far less likelihood of mould, whitefly and red spider mite developing.“ Linda clarified. “The team at Keder Greenhouse are very friendly and helpful, especially the installation team who were highly professional and efficient. I was surprised that the installation only took a few days. I am so pleased with the features it provides and believe I made the right choice, especially as we are in a very windy location and when the wind is blowing a gale outside, as with the recent storms, inside my Keder Greenhouse is a place of calm!” Commented Linda.
