Roksanda is the fashion designer Roksanda Illincic’s first London store. In collaboration with the architect David Adjaye, it opened in June 2014. This marked a milestone in Roksanda’s continued global reach. Stocked by influential retailers in over 40 countries worldwide, Roksanda has a loyal VIP following, including the Duchess of Cambridge, Samantha Cameron, and Michelle Obama. Multiload were involved in design and installation of the brilliant lighting, working with Isometrix and D & P Electrical Services. The Brief The lighting installation at Roksanda had to be flexible to suit the client’s requirement for varied levels of lighting. It needed to be simple and user-friendly. The client also wanted to be able to adjust the lighting internally to suit different display effects, without having to call out specialist software engineers. They also wanted extensive low-voltage lighting to maximise colour and sparkle. The Solution Joe Riley of Isometrix was the project’s lighting designer. He felt Multiload’s MoodMaker Scene-setting System would fit the brief very well. As specified by Joe, Multiload provided the drives and control system for 22 channels to ensure sufficient flexibility in use. Joe also specified Multiload’s VoltMaster to achieve the low-voltage colour and sparkle effects the client wanted. As he said, “VoltMaster is a future-proof product, so LED replacement lamps would achieve the same lighting effects, should the client decide to use LEDs.” Paul Franklin of D & P Electrical Services, the electrical contractor on the project, was pleased the client would be able to change lighting moods to suit the store layout, without needing programming visits.
