Nordair Niche tempers the air at Unison Factory

08-08-2014

A new, high performance Nordair Niche Variable Air Volume external direct gas-fired heating system at Unison Engine Components’ state-of-the-art UK manufacturing facility has helped to reduce the building’s energy use by almost 70%. World leaders in engine components and mechanical and electrical for jet engines, Unison’s 9,600m2 high-tech manufacturing facility has been designed to be a ‘blueprint’ for the latest lean, clean and green manufacturing processes. Ashton-based heating specialists Harry Taylor was appointed to replace ineffective and costly unit heaters with an energy efficient direct fired warm air heating system. Working closely with Nordair Niche throughout the design and specification process, Harry Taylor completed the installation of two state-of-the-art Nordair Niche external gas-fired vertical heaters complemented by Trend IQ3 building energy management controllers. The new system provides both heating and tempered air ventilation – precisely matching the existing extract system by linking inverter driven supply fans to vary the system’s airflow by up to 50%. By utilising direct gas firing, the system provides a highly efficient method of heating the replacement air with thermal efficiencies of up to 100% and fully modulates the burner to match the outside air temperature. By slightly pressurising the building, the heating and ventilation system discharges its air through unobtrusive wall discharge heads without the need for expensive high level ductwork runs.
