Anglia Ruskin University is one of the largest universities in eastern England with two main campuses, one in the centre of Cambridge and the other in Chelmsford, Essex. Over the last few years, numerous new faculty buildings were built on the Chelmsford Rivermead Campus, including the Civic Trust Award-winning Michael A. Ashcroft Building, designed by Wilkinson Eyre architects. Completed in 2003, this new building is home to the Lord Ashcroft International Business School and is one of several buildings designed to actively encourage high environmental performance. The glass bioclimatic wall allows maximum daylight penetration into classrooms while the stainless steel-clad auditorium floats above the entrance and foyer space below. Positioned on front of the Ashcroft building are vibrant street seats from the Omos ‘t’ range. Trapezoidal benches and seats in bright yellow and grey form a unique layout tailored to the specific site. The simple design aesthetic of the product perfectly complements the steel and glass façade of the new building providing a fresh and contemporary seating solution.
