ANGLESEY MP OPENS NEW £1M GREEN FACILITY AT REHAU

24-06-2014

ANGLESEY MP OPENS NEW £1M GREEN FACILITY AT REHAU REHAU’s environmental credentials were given a major boost last week when Albert Owen MP officially opened a new £1m recycling facility at the polymer company’s Amlwch factory. The facility will recycle all the excess paint used by REHAU in the production of its coloured and decorated edgebands for the UK and European furniture markets making the whole process cleaner, greener and more efficient. Mr Owen cut the ribbon on a new extension built at the factory to house a specially designed cleaning room which is the first of its kind to be installed at any REHAU factory outside of Germany. Peter Ault, the factory manager, said: “With this new investment, we are at the very forefront of environmental management within REHAU. We are not only now recycling all our paint but we are also regrinding our scrap and off-cut material so that it can be reused in new products. “Members of our team have received additional training so that they have the specialist skills needed to operate the new equipment and managers from other REHAU factories worldwide are already scheduled to come here to see how they can introduce similar cleaning rooms at their own plants.” This is the culmination of a long term strategy at REHAU’s Amlwch plant to improve its environmental performance. In 2011, the company achieved its target of zero cost to landfill by reducing its overall waste and in 2012 all its staff were invited to sign up to the company’s Go Beyond Green pledge which introduced new levels of environmental awareness throughout the business.
