Popular Subsurface Heating & Cooling Workshop

REHAU’s most recent workshop at the London Building Centre, on subsurface heating and cooling for construction professionals, was so popular that we had to run it twice. Subsurface heating and cooling is a technology which is increasing in popularity all the time but, because it remains a specialist area, we are currently running a series of workshops aimed at debunking some of the myths which surround it, and hopefully increasing the skills available in the design market. Our first workshop in April was fully booked, so we ran the event twice to make sure that all those who wanted to learn about the technology had the chance to do so. Delegates at our half day workshops included architects, M&E consulting engineers and contractors and they heard presentations from REHAU’s commercial Manager Mike Moseley, Andrew Tottman from OJ Controls Systems and Kris Hogg from Konnectiv. Starting with a review of various aspects of designing underfloor heating systems, such as floor types, floor coverings and pipe layouts, Mike also focused on the newest developments in subsurface heating and cooling, such as chilled ceilings and TABS (Thermally Activated Building Systems). Andrew covered options for control, detailing how to best plan a design strategy, and Kris gave an overview of the automation sector and how we can benefit from integrated controls. Feedback from delegates after both events was very positive, with many commenting that they appreciated the fact that there was an educational emphasis, rather than any kind of hard sell.
