About Us
cruton & Co.(Builders) Ltd was founded in 1942 by William Arthur Scruton, a Hull born joiner who set up in business with Jack Stanton, a bricklayer. The company initially repaired bomb damaged property during the World War II years.
Post war, Arthur Scruton embraced the council house building programme of the 1950s and constructed a number of Hull’s estates. Joined by his son Bernard Scruton, the company started to construct housing sites for private ownership in and around the Hull area.
The 3rd generation of Scruton joiners, Ian Scruton joined the company in 1984 and took over the running of the business in 1988.
This family run business has, through good design, attention to detail and a strong quality commitment, earned an enviable reputation throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire for their new homes.
