Cliffe Pools, Kent

06-10-2014

Project Summary: Sevenoaks Environmental Consultancy (SEC) recently completed an extensive environmental assessment of the Cliffe Pools, RSPB nature reserve in north Kent. This assessment was carried out to assess the potential impact of the disposal of dredged material or excavated material, capable of being delivered by river and pumped ashore into lagoons to develop the sites potential as a wildlife reserve by carefully increasing the area of shallow lagoons suitable for waterfowl. The assessment was also carried out to determine an appropriate environmental monitoring regime to comply with existing requirements of a Waste Management Licence and Trade Effluent Discharge Consent. SEC as part of this assessment reviewed the sites ground conditions, the sites history and previous reports as well as carrying out a qualitative risk assessment and producing a site specific monitoring regime to comply with statutory requirements.
