Case Study - Malvern Hills

12-06-2014

A self build project in the Malvern Hills, Worcester utilising Siberian Larch Cladding from Silva Timber Products. Owner of the house, Martin Gloster first made contact with Silva Timber Products when he attended the Homebuilding and Renovating Show in 2008 to conduct some research on the range of timber cladding products on the market. The Malvern Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with a rich architectural heritage and an abundance of forts, castles and priories. Martin's planning permission dictated that the new build should utilise vertical wood cladding in order to match the surrounding farm buildings and fit into the overall landscape of the rural location. The cladding selected would also need to work with the build's oak frame and provide durability and aesthetic appeal. Martin collected a sample of Silva Timber's Siberian Larch cladding at the show and sent it off to his carpenter to check that it would meet their requirements.
