Residential Conversion in Ealing
We were commissioned to provide technical input to the design of a residential conversion of an existing commercial unit in Ealing. The development had gone through the pre-application process with noise and vibration highlighted as high risk by Planning Officers due a busy railway line on the site boundary, and the proximity of nearby flight-paths.
Consideration of the internal sound insulation above and beyond the requirements of Approved Documents E of the Building Regulations is a feature of Local Planning Policy in Ealing, so we provided technical input including recommending suitable wall and floor constructions for both newly constructed, and refurbished and enhanced partitions.
Based on the results of a noise and vibration survey, we were also able to advise our client on suitable means of mitigating vibration and external noise break-in to the proposed residential properties, including recommending suitable glazing and ventilation systems to achieve the goals of Local and National Planning Policy in protecting residents from Significant Adverse impacts and minimising Adverse impacts due to noise.
The development has now gained planning consent subject to conditions, and work is due to start in 2025.
