Waste Handling Site in Shoreham Port

01-06-2024

The environment agency requested a BS4142 commercial noise assessment as part of the permit application process for a waste handling site within an established port.

Though the site is located at a significant distance from nearby sensitive receivers (a school and residential properties) and other significant noise sources are located nearby, an acoustic assessment was still requested. We attended the site, and through measurement and calculation were able to satisfy the Environment Agency that noise from the site did not pose a significant risk.

As a result of our input, the Environment Agency accepted that the site was low risk for noise and refunded our client the fee for their Noise Management Plant Assessment. The permit application is now underway with noise concerns successfully addressed.
