Environmental Services Association’s (ESA) Recycling Registration Scheme

05-12-2013

Wastecycle was one of the first medium sized waste management businesses in the UK to be accepted as a member of the Environmental Services Association’s (ESA) Recycling Registration Scheme in 2007. We have long been a forerunner in collection, treatment, re-use and recycling of co-mingled waste. Working closely with Nottingham City Council we have provided a reliable outlet for dry-recyclable materials arising from the local authority's kerbside recycling initiative which is being rolled out across the city. The accreditation, which comes just six months after the Scheme’s launch, is testament to the standards operated by Wastecycle. Acceptance into the Scheme is subject to prior audit by Bureau Veritas Consulting, whereby potential members must demonstrate that their recycling facility meets the required quality and legal standards, ensuring continued good industry practice, including health and safety regulations and has a robust system for tracking materials to reprocessing destinations. The Scheme’s Code of Practice requires that recyclable material must only be sent to a recovery facility which operates to EU equivalent standards. Membership of the scheme gives confidence to stakeholders and customers that materials sent abroad for use in manufacturing such as paper mills and textile mills meet stringent specifications and are fully compliant.
