Turner Access Managing Director reacts to the NASC Safety Report 2013

28-10-2013

The NASC has recently published its 2013 Annual Safety Report which documents the statistics for scaffolding safety in 2012. The report includes data for all 201 of the NASC's contracting member companies and provides details of injuries and fatalities, and causes and analysis of accidents and injuries to operatives, third parties, and members of the public. The NASC Annual Safety Report is based on factual information reported by all Full Contracting Members of the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation. It is a mandatory membership requirement for all Full Contracting Members to complete their annual accident returns to the NASC. NASC Regional Chairman for Scotland and Northern Ireland, and Turner Access Managing Director, Ian Wilson, said: “I welcome the new NASC Annual Safety Report and believe that it clearly demonstrates that the efforts taken by the NASC, and its member companies, to raise the standards of safety in the Industry continue to show improvement. “The fact that NASC members’ safety performance is once again ahead of the industry as a whole, based on HSE statistics, is testament to the commitment of our members to this central strand of NASC philosophy and policy. However, we can never allow complacency to drift into our mind-set as it is only our continual focus on all aspects of safety that is bringing about the changes in attitude, at all levels, and hence improvements in performance that we have seen. “Therefore the NASC will continue to strive for excellence in safety by constantly monitoring and auditing members’ safety performance and through its various committees reviewing new systems, products and practices to achieve best practice.” The Annual Safety Reports confirm that using an NASC member for your scaffolding will ensure a safer and more compliant scaffold than that provided by non - regulated scaffolding companies.
