The W.E.E.E Directive makes it illegal to send more than 20% of the weight of discharged lamps to landfill, while the Hazardous Waste Regulations place strict responsibilities on the building owners and operators to ensure that end of life lamps are disposed of in accordance with the Regulations. If you operate fluorescent or discharge lighting on your premises you have an environmental responsibility arising from this legislation. This will impact on your material supply, handling, storage and end of life disposal of old lamps.
