Theatre and Stage Access Platforms.

17-09-2015

We were recently approached by Walt Disney to try and solve a working at height safety issue at the Lion King in London, relating to creating the waterfall scene during the show. This required access to height over 5.00m long and some 4.00m high, with the criteria being that it did not take up any stage space when stowed. As our existing customers would expect we found a solution (images coming shortly), this was to design a platform with a 2.00m platform height, 5.00m long and 800mm wide, that when not in use could be craned in the vertical position so that it was out of the way and took no stage space up whatsoever, neatly fitting into a recess at the back of the stage. To do this we needed make the handrails telescope down and the stairs detach. We are delighted to report that it works and hangs in the perpendicular, in complete safety and has now achieved full compliance with the Work At Height Regulations, named now the ‘Waterfall Platform’, we do not see a huge market for Waterfall platforms, however we do for our the innovation and commitment to ensure our customers are protected from falls from height in all industries.
