At the new £50 million JW3 Jewish Community Centre on Finchley Road, North London, DORMA ED 250A operators have helped to provide unrivalled performance, reliability and safety levels for a spectacular main entrance which features 12.8mm thick armour plate glass panels weighing over 500kg each. Designed by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and built by BAM Construction, the new centre was built on one of the busiest arterial routes into London. Carefully designed to provide noise protection from traffic and allow natural light into the building, the design incorporates an impressive all-glass façade along the Finchley Road frontage. Appointed to deliver the complete façade package, for the main entrance doors Colorminium Group turned to the trusted global partner for premium access solutions and services. DORMA supplied its ED 250A automatic swing door operators – the only solution able to meet the requirement and demands of glass doors of this size and weight. Installed at the ground floor main entrance and on a piazza level doorset, the ED 250A closers perfectly complemented the glass frontage whilst also delivering unrivalled levels of performance, reliability and aesthetics. DORMA completed the project specification with the supply of glass fittings and BTS 75V floor springs. As part of its energy saving features to reduce environmental impact, the DORMA ED 250A is the only automatic swing door operator with integrated Wind Load Control. It automatically recognises and compensates for wind loads up to 150 N – this is what sets the ED 250A apart from its competitors. In addition, the DORMA ED 250A is CE marked, fully tested and compliant with multiple UK and International standards. Providing secure and reliable operation in line with the client’s demands, they also offered ease of access for all the facility’s users in line with Approved Document M.
