FAITHFUL+GOULD INSTRUMENTAL IN DELIVERING UNITED AIRLINES NEW AIRPORT LOUNGES
18-06-2014
On June 4th United Airlines will receive the first flight into the new Terminal 2 building at London Heathrow Airport. Awaiting them will be the luxuries of the new United Airlines lounges, delivered by our aviation specialists.
United Airlines' new international departure lounge will be the first to open at London Heathrow’s new £2.5bn Terminal 2, (known as the Queen’s Terminal). In conjunction with this, United Airlines will be the first airline to operate from this terminal, a monumental occasion for the American Airline and a landmark project for us.
The lounges are the epitome of luxury offering their passengers the very best in terms of dining, relaxation and business working. Facilities include a tea lounge, a-la-carte dining, 50 ft long club bar, private wine room, relaxation areas and a business centre offering a range of flexible working areas. In addition to this there is a spacious shower area with personal valet service. Appointed by United Airlines as employer’s agent and cost manager we played an instrumental role in the realisation of United Airlines’ flagship departure lounge suite - ‘United Club’ and ‘Global First’ in what is their busiest transatlantic hub.
We collaborated closely with the project team, quickly developing a strong relationship resulting in a shared sense of purpose and team spirit which was of great benefit to completing this fast track programme to the fixed completion date. Mike Landers, Director, Design & Construction, Corporate Real Estate, United Airlines gave a very clear brief “the whole focus of the project is about the customer and the customer experience”.
Graham Alcock, Faithful+Gould Project Lead, states: "Thanks to the collaborative nature of the whole team the project has reached a very successful conclusion. We are proud to be associated with such a project."
Working on such a prestigious project for United Airlines, meant each client facing aspect had to exude the very best in terms of luxury, technology and emit a completely relaxing experience for United Airlines’ VIP passengers. Added to this challenge was the extremely tight security measures you would expect in one of the world’s busiest airports. Our team ensured each element of this project was delivered as per the client’s requirements. This has seen the team travel around the world in helping source and cost specific materials, visit prototype United Airlines lounges and discuss in-depth some of the logistical and technological challenges the lounge created; ensuring the client was reassured throughout the project.
Mike Landers, United Airlines Director, Design & Construction, Corporate Real Estate, said: "The Faithful+Gould team brought the very best in resources, engagement, skill and client commitment to the table throughout our projects. Their culture and approach is a game changer, they see the bigger picture, use the latest in technology and become with the client’s vision from the very start. My thanks to this outstanding project team for their sincere effort and skillful execution on our projects.”
