Hygienic Wall Coatings

13-05-2019

I thought that this week I would introduce you to a couple of different products that some of our customers, especially within the food and hospital environments like to use on their walls and ceilings. These are Rust-Oleum Biosan Aqua Plus and Biosan Aqua. They are both hygienic wall coatings containing BACTRON. BACTRON is a unique anti-bacterial agent that has been scientifically proven to kill most types of bacteria, including “super bugs” which makes it an ideal product to use in pretty much any environment where hygiene is important. Specifically BACTRON has been proven to control E.coli 0157, Salmonella sp, Staphylococcus aereus, Listeria, monocytogenes, Shigella sp and other bacteria. Unlike some other antimicrobial additives BACTRON is not classified as harmful to humans and has food contact approval in the EU and USA. Therefore Biosan, supported of course with good housekeeping practices, is an ideal solution for maintenance of a hygienic environment where cleanliness is of the utmost importance. Biosan Aqua Plus is a two pack, water based, epoxy coating which makes it particularly durable where the surfaces are being scrubbed on a regular basis, and Biosan Aqua is a single coat acrylic coating which is still durable although not quite so durable as the Aqua Plus. The coatings can be painted on ceilings as well as walls and are very easy to apply – just roller or brush on. They are available in white and a large number of custom colours, have excellent opacity, are chemically resistant and easy to clean with high abrasion resistance. Both versions come in 5 litre units and a minimum of two coats are required. Walls that have not previously been sealed may require more.
