Fläkt Woods Appoints New VP for UK and Fans Business

Fläkt Woods has announced Ian Morehouse as its new Vice President for the UK’s fan business, as well as Managing Director of Fläkt Woods Ltd. His remit will cover the manufacturing of products in the UK, working alongside Yan Evans - Vice President for all UK and Ireland business. In his new role, Ian will be responsible for improving operational excellence in all aspects of the manufacturing process, including sourcing, productivity, supply chain, engineering and new product development. In addition, he will maintain an emphasis on the shop floor’s ‘continuous development’ programme, optimising work flow and assembly to ensure production is as efficient as possible for the company’s customers Commenting on his new position, Ian said: "Joining Fläkt Woods has given me the opportunity to work with one of the UK’s leading manufacturers. The facilities at the Colchester site are really impressive and testament to the huge amount of success the company has achieved in the past. Having said that, there are plenty of opportunities to further enhance our operations, and I’m keen to improve overall efficiencies on the shop floor over the coming years. Reducing energy levels is also a key target, which is why we’re already investing in a highly efficient lighting system, making a significant difference to our utility costs. “However, the investment will not only be in equipment; we will also continue to develop our apprentice scheme, which will help ensure the skills developed over decades are passed onto the next generation of engineers.” Ian has over 15 years of experience in a variety of industries, including aerospace, electronics, metrology and medical. His roles have ranged from engineering and operations, to business leadership and continuous improvement. Ian’s previous position was Operations Director at Solartron Metrology, and prior to that he worked for Eaton Aerospace and Fluke Europe (Danaher Corporation) in both Europe and the UK. In addition to extensive experience in the manufacturing sector, Ian has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from Cranfield University, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University.
