HOWARTH STAFF APPOINTED AS IOBM GOVERNORS

16-07-2014

Two Howarth Timber and Building Supplies employees have been appointed to the Board of Governors at the Institute of Builders Merchants (IOBM) and will work on a voluntary basis to further the aims of the institute. Howarth’s national sales manager Mark Terry and group buyer Duncan Barker have both joined the Board and their roles will involve helping to raise the profile of the institute across the industry, increasing membership and promoting training and continual development. Mark and Duncan will also work to promote and share best practice across the industry and to champion and promote professionalism. Howarth has an ongoing partnership with the IOBM and a team of employees recently showcased their skills at the institute’s Practical Skills Challenge Event, finishing in second place. The IOBM’s primary responsibility is to recognise, accredit and monitor educational qualifications and professional standards for those employed within the builders’ merchants industry. The Institute is managed by the voluntary Board, who all have senior roles and extensive experience within the industry. Mark said: “Joining the Board of Governors at the IOBM means a lot to both me and Duncan. Our appointments ensure that Howarth will have a voice on the Board and the opportunity to share best industry practice and influence the direction of the Institute.”
