Industrial and Occupational Noise
***BS 4142:1997 'Method for rating industrial noise affecting mixed residential and industrial areas' is one of the most commonly used standards for assessment of industrial noise***. The standard is used to determine acceptable levels of noise from industrial and commercial noise sources as experienced at residential properties or development sites. BS 4142 provides a methodology to compare the level of industrial noise with existing background noise levels at nearby residential properties in order to determine the likelihood of complaints. Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC) is a regulatory system to ensure that industry adopts an integrated approach to pollution control to achieve a high level of protection both for local people and the environment. Industrial operators of new or proposed installations must apply for a permit from the Regulator (Environment Agency or Local Authority) prior to operation.Visit the MRL Acoustics Ltd website for more information on Industrial and Occupational Noise
