Permanex CCS goes to war!

14-12-2014

- The War Office, an iconic building on London’s Whitehall, where British leaders made plans during the two World Wars and the Cold War, was recently put up for sale by the government for a multi-million sum. As part of the redevelopment plan some significant renovation work was required and PermanexCCS has just been awarded the contract to deliver the high specification security scaffolding hoarding and lighting to protect this historic building. - The War Office has over 1,000 rooms, 2.5 miles of corridors and was originally built in 1901 at a cost of over £1.2m. It remained relatively unscathed during World War II, was refurbished in the mid-1980s, and duly reopened in 1992, as the new headquarters of the defence intelligence staffs. The remaining civil servants are now relocating across the road to the MoD’s main building in preparation for the sale and redevelopment. - The site security contract will include fabricating and erecting on-site a series of 3m-high hoardings and various gantries along with providing a variety of other related services but a complete report on this project will be prepared once the contract starts to deliver – so watch out for it in the next PermanexCCS eNewsletter.
